The information contained in this section allows visitors with a strong interest in developing a sound understanding of genetics and molecular biology to devise their own program of self-study.

Textbooks. These are comprehensive books that run into the hundreds and often thousands of pages. They are not suitable for a quick read, but are written in a careful and very didactic way.

Science Writings. These volumes are no substitute for a textbook, but are often thorough enough to provide a reasonable introduction to genetics and molecular biology.

Portals. Some of these provide a fairly comprehensive overview of specific topics, such as developmental biology. Others provide limited, but careful discussions of the most common topics in genetics, developmental and molecular biology.

Science Magazines. These offer a narrowly focused perspective on the most recent developments in biology. Some of these publications, such as Nature and Science, are very technical, and usually not accessible to the non-initiated. Others, like New Scientist, are targeted at a broader audience, and make for a much easier read.

Dictionaries and Glossaries. Here is an extensive collection of online dictionaries. The extent and depth of these resources varies considerably, so consider exploring more than just one such resource.
